According to a June, 1918 article for Earnshaw’s Infant Department, “The generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls. The reason is that pink, being a more decided and stronger color, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl.”
Wow. They calculated that since pink is a “babier” version of fiery red, it fit a boy’s temperament better than blue, which was considered a relaxed, quiet color.
This might explain why Disney princess from around that time wore blue and not pink. Sleeping Beauty. Blue. Snow White. Blue. Cinderella. Blue. If I remember correctly, they were pretty relaxed, even when really horrible things happened to them.
Look at these two rooms. Which one would you rather sleep in?
The answer: Thirty years.
I personally wish we could go back to unisex, gender-neutral, clothing, and have all colors belong to everyone. I mean, look at how awesome this man looks in pink. Agree?
